Canary Wharf, London Painting

I am a Cornish born artist living and painting in my London studio. I have loved painting all my life and my paints and sketchbook are a constant companion. I enjoyed painting Cornwall’s vivid tropical gardens and celebrated landscapes. Realist work in watercolours have logged much of my storied life. I shift between a range of genres and materials, my art is rich with colour and constantly evolving. I enjoy the simple pleasure of being able to rest my mind in a busy world and escape into my artwork. Once I left Cornwall for London and to travel my colour palate grew. Through travelling and working in different countries, throughout Latin America and across the Mediterranean, I revelled at being engulfed in colour as I discovered the rich and diverse cultures. I get inspiration from artist greats such as; Hockney, Picasso and Monet. I frequently visit galleries to stay in touch with modern approaches and techniques. I pay close attention to the quality of my materials and work. My canvases all have extra layers of gesso primers. I use high pigment acrylic paints to provide depth and richness of colour. The artwork is then finished with three layers of artist varnish to seal and maintain the integrity of the piece. The majority of my work is characterised by a painted frame on a deep edged canvas.
