The title Capitulation emerged quite spontaneously in my mind when the painting was finished. It is not about some concrete capitulation. It is about that moment in which the mental perception of the being capitulates as a result of becoming aware of its own helplessness to sum up what's happening around us. The individual - in such a moment - stares as if being struck by the, so to say, real reality.
