ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Trinidad and Tobago’s distinctive nineteenth-century architecture survives not only in grand mansions, but in many more modest old houses that linger in the rural landscape. This impasto style painting is a Caribbean expressionism to create originality.

Hazel Marshall

Hazel Marshall

Trinidad and Tobago

Biography Hazel Marshall was born in Trinidad. She presently owns her own beachwear business, which has been in operation for the last 30 years. She studied art in high school and later took part in many online courses, such as Virtual Art Academy. Hazel’s interest in painting was reawakened 20 years ago when she bought a set of paints for one of her sons to encourage him to paint since she had seen that he had a natural talent for art, and in doing so, there was no turning back. Her passion for painting was reborn! She is inspired by the old impressionist masters like Claude Monet, Vincent Van Gogh, and Edgar Degas. She now paints in several mediums: acrylic, oil, and watercolor, but her favorite medium is acrylic. At present, her focus is on painting landscapes, seascapes, gingerbread houses, and ladies of the Caribbean. She uses her own artistic style, and like to apply thick paint to create texture and add expression to emphasize the stroke and gesture. She hopes that you will enjoy her paintings, feel the impulse and energy, capture the melody that is in her head and the vibration of her soul. She has showcased her works at local art galleries and international online art galleries, where many of her paintings have been sold to private collectors. Hazel is multitalented and uses her artistic flair to create jewelry, stained glass art, chocolate from bean to bar, wine, candles, and soaps. Hazel is a member of the Art Society of Trinidad and Tobago and has also been part of many group exhibitions over the years.
