About The Artwork

I was driven to interpret some of the Prehistoric scenes from caves near Dordogne after visiting that area of France. Visiting the Caves at Lascaux was on my bucket list, and there are some of the oldest known artworks. We visited those caves and many more. These paintings depict the system of symbols and beliefs of the artists who so brilliantly created this art. The paintings in these caves were probably done by the Cro-Magnons, the first homo sapiens to settle in Europe 45,000 years ago. They used tools for painting, engraving, and drawing. What a dizzy, overwhelming experience it was to be in a cave, looking up and seeing ancient imagery everywhere. This painting is wired on the back so it can be viewed vertically or horizontally.

Symbols that represent common threads and relationships of life are prevalent in my paintings. Combining the ancient art of printmaking with contemporary techniques and materials and is how my work evolves. Spontaneity and a sense of adventure are with me when creating. Color and texture are always at the heart of my art and there are many layers buried beneath the surface of any painting."
