Upon discovering my Welsh heritage, I delved into the rich tapestry of Welsh mythology. As a lover of nature, I was especially drawn to the tale of Cerridwen, an enchanting figure intertwined with themes of transformation, magic, and the wild. Fine arts artist and illustrator Andrea Onida is an Austrian artist born in Rio de Janeiro, with paternal roots in Sardinia, Italy. From an early age, drawing has been her greatest passion. As a child, she created comic strips for her classmates, and in her teenage years she delighted her peers with caricatures of teachers. During her time as a student, she also maintained a regular column in a small newspaper, where she published humorous comics. Her main character, Bicho-Grilo, was a hippie who questioned urban progress , already revealing, for that young age, a strong ecological awareness. One of her favorite artist Paul Cézanne. Deeply in love with the south of France, Andrea found in its landscapes the key to understanding the beauty and sensitivity that Cézanne so masterfully translated onto canvas. More recently, she has begun working as a freelance illustrator, creating storyboards for film directors. Her next challenge is to learn how to paint landscapes and to embark on a project that captures the many extraordinary places in the world still waiting to be discovered. "I love things that are not things and a nice color palette. For many years, I have worked as an architect, producing technical drawings for architectural projects. I deliberately draw by hand and allow my lines to remain slightly out of square, creating distance between my artistic practice and technical perfection. " (Andrea Onida)
