Meridith Martens is an award winning artist in North Carolina with an impressive portfolio of portraits, expressive abstracts, animal art, florals, and corporate commissions. Meridith was born in Illinois in 1947, and grew up in Ammapolis, Maryland. After attending the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, D.C. and the San Francisco Art Institute, she began painting race horse. Having grown up with horses and a menagerie of pets and farm animals, the artist understands the unique individual spirit and beauty that is present in all living things. The texture and color of oil paint inspires the artist with passion to paint while a strong sense of creative imagery instill the desire to excel. Her work is recognized for its remarkable realism and ability to capture the essence of each animal that she paints.
