I was asked to teach a painting workshop to a group of Australian women here in my home in Tuscany. I set up several different still life settings related to the food here since that is a major part of Tuscan charm. While they painted watercolors of olives and oil, I decided to create this painting before my live models were ... gone. I really love the texture of this old bottle of Chianti wine and I enjoy painting grapes because of the frosty bloom they get. It lends to a smashing combination of alizarin crimsons, reds, blues, and purples. Painting: Oil on Canvas. Chianti Wine, Grapes, and Cheese 30 x 25 cm [11 x 9.8 inches] Oil on Canvas by Kelly Borsheim I learned to paint writing or text so that you know that there are words in the art, but you cannot read them. I find that visually more interesting in most cases. Also, one touch that I am a bit proud of is that the green in the wine bottle's label is balanced on the cut end of the branch for the cluster of grapes. And I do hope the effect of the cutting board sticking way out away from the wooden kitchen board below it, as well as the single grape near its edge, gives a feeling of impending movement or at least a bit of "whoa!" Thanks so much for your continuing support! ~ Kelly Borsheim, sculptor & painter P.S. The painting is framed with wood with an antique white patina. I have priced her affordably as well. She ships from Norfolk, Virginia, USA.

I am interested in why we do what we do and how thoughts progress. Since I was a child, I watched and touched and listened, trying to make sense of things. It was easy to feel the sadness of life, but also the yin and yang. So, I work to put beauty in front of us. I have been told that my work is “all over the map” but in my mind, everything is connected. I hope you enjoy your visit and will be enticed to go to my Web site for more work and writings. Thank you.
