Ricardo Franzin (b. 1976, São Bernardo do Campo, Brazil) lives and works in São Paulo city. His inspirations are modern abstractionists such as Mondrian, Malevich and Sol LeWitt. Before studying arts, worked as public relations for 15 years, stylist and interior designer. In 2016, Franzin participated of his first group exhibition “Immigration – Movements that Transform”, when he honored his Italian mother. At the same year, he was selected by many art exhibitions as 24th Mococa City Art Exhibition and 1st House of Xiclet Winter Art Exhibition. In 2017, happened his first solo exhibition “Immigrants without Borders” at Myllery Gallery (San Paolo), with 18 acrylic paintings about immigrant state of mind, conflicts and hope. In that same year, he directed his work to watercolor, with the series “Chromosomes as We Are”, which was selected for the 31st Vinhedo City Art Exhibition, 24th Praia Grande City Art Exhibition, 15th Ubatuba City Art Exhibition and 4th Mogi das Cruzes City Art Exhibition, and participating at PART Contemporary Art Fair, with JBGoldenberg Art Office. In late 2018, and throughout 2019, his artworks were taken by the vibrant red color, consolidating his geometrical-minimalist style that obsessively utilizes squares and cubes, mathematical calculations, repetition and the pursuit of control by forms. Artworks of this phase were selected for the 51st Piracicaba Contemporary Art Show, the 4th Alagoas National Contemporary Art Show and the 33rd Arceburgo Plastic Arts Show, in addition to participating in group exhibitions. Franzin’s artwork has been shown in exhibitions all over his country and he has artworks in municipal collections by acquisitions, such as the 13th SART Rondônia City Arts Exhibition, 15th Ubatuba City Art Exhibition and 1st Navegantes City Tree-Dimensional Art Exhibition, besides the honorable mentions in art exhibitions.
