Citadel Painting

I paint from childhood experiences, thoughts and memories. I find that allowing the child within me to dictate the piece helps as it acts as a very raw emotion and produces the best finished piece. The adult version of me controls the wording and what I want to express. I want to give the viewer a glimpse into my childhood but without giving too much away. I feel it's best to let the viewer decide what emotions the piece captures. They say it's best to paint and draw what you know, so I figured, why not create childhood memories? The subject matter is always so important to me, as this acts as a reflection of my childhood. Because I like to capture thoughts quickly, I like to use materials that will dry quickly so that I can get the memory down in its truest form before I forget it or it changes.
