New York City is often called the city of dreams. This has been true for me since I moved there in 1998 to study art & design at Pratt. In this piece the buildings dance and sway with a large wave of the East River. There are no perfectly straight lines or 90 degree angles though the architecture is strong, adaptive, and free —like the people living here. The buildings reflected in the water are a rhythmic visual language I have started developing in my recent work taking it to a different dimension. The lights and playful gestures of the buildings capture the excitement of the 'city that never sleeps', as the picture wraps all the way around the canvas showing 6 inches on each extra side, making the viewer want to take it in at all angles.
