About The Artwork

Collage of art papers, ink, acrylic paint, acrylic gloss medium, graphite and gel pen on birch board. My commute to and from work within the city of Philadelphia has inspired the subject matter for this new kind of "landscape" that is still in process. Some of the buildings are inspired by existing structures but they have been placed in otherwise imagined compositions. Experimenting with formal ideas of design with graphic elements are concerns of mine as well as surface textures such as glossy vs. matte or rough vs. smooth. My primary motivations for this ongoing body of work, however, are thoughts of place, time, mystery, invisible energy coming from within and moving around. Seen from an angle, the glossy windows make it look as though the city were lit up.
