About The Artwork
My city London inspired my art piece. This art piece expresses how suffocating cities are no matter how big or popular they are. This art piece is supposed to show how draining life in a big city can be and how this world and society glamorises/romanticises cities as being a place where all your dreams come true. This art piece was made to expose the lies hidden behind the buildings and the bright lights that distract us from the people behind those bright lights and tall skyscrapers. I chose to use acrylic as it allows me to glide through the canvas and create textures and shapes to represent the hardships people go through in these cities like the cost of living crisis and how our economy is falling apart and the people who suffer the most are hidden. The piece is trying to cover up the horrors but when you look at it you can't help but feel uneasy and invisible.
