Painting: Acrylic on Canvas.
I ran across a small black and white photo on a website and I just couldn't get it out of my mind. All-time Hall of Fame legend Roberto Clemente just looked so BALLETIC - that's the only word for it! And the geometry of the outfield grass and the warning track seemed so exploitable. That is, I saw the baseball and all of Roberto's motion as heading right for the inside angle. Like he was pushing the green just enough to still make the catch.
And the crowd! Men wearing hats! (Only one baseball cap. Those used to be difficult to come across.) People standing and gawking at the right fielder who's suddenly given them the best seats in the park.
I'm guessing Easter is what influenced me to color the spectators in the assortment of colors that I chose.
