Arthur Lazaryan was born in 1970 in Yerevan, Armenia. In his life two things have interested Arthur the most: art and the mechanics of things. He grew up in an art environment at home. In 1979 he participated in an exhibit at the Children’s Art Museum in Yerevan curated by Mr. Henrik Igityan. By the time he was a teenager, his works had also been exhibited in Europe, Russia, and Asia. In 1988 he was drafted into the Russian military. During that time, he was also active as an artist, painting murals, including a major redesign of the Kubinka Tank Musuem in Russia. Arthur worked at an architect firm (ECRPI) in Yerevan from 1990-1992. After Armenia’s independence, and soon after, blockade, Arthur changed professions, and worked in diplomatic security for the U.S. Embassy. He continued to exhibit in Yerevan, including at the U.S. Embassy. He received his degree in Mechanical Engineering and Design in 1995 from the National Polytechnic University of Armenia. In 1996 he came to the United States, first to California, where he soon after participated in a group exhibit at the Contemporary Fine Art Gallery in downtown Los Angeles, as well as displayed his works in various galleries and shows in the Los Angeles area. In 1998 he moved to Michigan, and displayed in galleries and exhibitions in Dearborn, Traverse City, Grand Haven, Farmington, Ludington, Grand Rapids, Milford and Northville. In 2013 he was selected by the St. John’s Armenian Church to design a stone monument for a public memorial (Baku-Sumgait) in Southfield, as well as manage the project to completion. Since 2014 he has participated annually in the international art show ArtPrize. Arthur Lazaryan has worked with watercolor, oil, and acrylic, as well as created sculptures from wood, metal, clay, and stone. His art is displayed in public and private collections worldwide.
