COFFEE AND CIGARETTES Hot brewed coffee To take my stride Upon the drifting tide Laying back in a Turkish café There’s nothing really left to say Feeling untied And striding along an easy ride Freshly ground beans Lift a rich aroma to my nasal To the cup I become bent Roasted to perfection With its golden crema on top Oh, it’s sweet sailing to the opium den Feeling Zen Taking lip with a soft pack Pulling a cigarette by the teeth Lighting up with a match Waving off the hazel flame with a Thai chi motion A gentle inhale Oh, the tobaccos simmering sensation Leaves me in a virtuous nest Displaced in my centre crest Dismissing all things off my chest Now, finally I can rest As steaming clouds rise above the brim The cigarette left dangling atop the ashtray I lean back with a soft sigh For a moment I go off course And simply Just simply Let the moment take me astray

Meled Taouk is an Australian born artist who has been developing a style which is essential to his purpose of expressing the ‘honest self’. “My art is derived from within, I draw my inspiration from real experiences”. The Artist believes all artistic vision is inherently from an internal source that can only be considered as divine. He is known to draw from his own personal experiences that he witnesses within the boundaries of his life, from all that he has felt internally, to the many emotions he feels throughout his life. “I never really look at my Art, I am the Art itself’. Meled approaches his work with a conceived idea or an elusive image at first, encouraging a set style or attitude to be taken on as an expressive outlet, and then eventually he become stimulated as the work takes a life of its own through an emotional outlet during the performance of the work. “I become captivated by the works progressive development, encouraging what works to hold or expose a subconscious truth and beauty, creating a life of its own”. Through the artists given passage of ‘living’, he is provoked with feelings from all he endures and witnesses, to ultimately create art that exemplifies the human condition. “I try to capture that, I try to capture my living narrative as if painting is a language of personalised imagery of journal entries”. “I understood more, when I felt more”
