This large painting is a window or porthole to the northern latitudes. A ray of bright yellow cuts like an incision through the cool blues and greens. Reminiscent of aurora borealis, or breaking dawn on an icy landscape. Hunched figures recline in the lower right-hand side, dormant, awaiting the sun to defrost their stiff limbless bodies. Shards of color sparkle across the canvas, pollen or cosmis dust that gives this work and otherworldly appearance.
