ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Acrylic painting on cardboard 15,7 x 19,7 x 0.2 inches in a 20,5 x 24,4 x 0,8 inch wood frame, ready to hang. Our dreams, our illusions, what we are not aware of, what arises in our imagination, what generates our subconscious, what we are afraid of..... In my work I try to convey the connection between nature and human beings. My painting style lies between abstraction and figurative art. I am attempting to convey my feelings and experiences through a certain distortion of reality, sometimes completely turning into abstract painting. I distort natural objects, and sometimes I deliberately modify the perspective in order to emphasize the feelings and enhance the expressiveness. My works are about human beings, nature, transformations, mutual influence, unity, separation and permutations, about the absurdity of time and life, about silence, human feelings. I try to find the answer to the question of how and what we see, what we pay attention to and what eludes our eyes.

Permanent residence: the Hague, the Netherlands. Member of Haagse Kunstkring, Art Society of the Hague, the Netherlands. In her expressionistic works, Irene expresses feelings and experiences through a certain distortion of reality. In her works there is a deviation from reality due to the use of another, extraordinary reality, the colour scheme of which is born intuitively. To emphasize feelings, to enhance expressiveness, she distorts natural objects and, sometimes, deliberately modifies the perspective. Other academic rules and forms are deliberately avoided. Irina’s art is born more from feeling than from reason and is presented as something extraordinary. Art Techniques: painting, collage, assemblage, digital print.
