“Composición en cuatro colores” by Enrique Pichardo: A Joyful Journey Through Color Enrique Pichardo is known for his abstract and symbolic approach, steering away from realism to embrace imagination. His work flattens and overlaps figures, offering a childlike view of the world. Drawing from everyday vibrancy and spiritually charged primitive characters, Pichardo’s art celebrates life, each piece brimming with joy and color. A Chromatic Masterpiece: “Composición en cuatro colores” In Composición en cuatro colores (2024), an acrylic on canvas measuring 100x120 cm, Pichardo explores the relationship between form and color. Using blue, black, orange, and white, the bold organic lines create movement, while overlapping figures, inspired by precolonial Mexican symbols and the surreal essence of alebrijes, ground the piece in cultural tradition. This artwork is a celebration of life, where color expresses joy, autonomy, and freedom. The textures and layers of paint create a vibrant composition that pulsates with warmth. Color, as a symbolic tool, lies at the heart of Pichardo’s art, inviting viewers into a joyful visual experience. The Global Stage of Enrique Pichardo Pichardo’s career flourished at the Escuela Nacional de Pintura, Escultura y Grabado “La Esmeralda.” He draws from Jean Dubuffet’s textures and Jean-Michel Basquiat’s urban energy, blending these into his unique style. His art has been exhibited globally, earning him a place among the most innovative contemporary artists. A Celebration of Color and Heritage With Composición en cuatro colores, Pichardo expresses life’s vibrancy through color, texture, and symbolism. The piece unites cultural heritage with modern energy, creating a visually and emotionally resonant composition. Through this painting, Pichardo invites us to experience life’s spontaneity in all its vibrant hues.

The Mexican plastic artist, Enrique Pichardo, has more than 30 years of experience as a painter. His technique and style combine artistic influences from other countries with the traditional Mexican influence. In his own words, he defines his art as naive expressionism. The plastic work of Enrique Pichardo has more than one aspect. On the one hand, he creates works that are densely populated with shapes, figures, and colors. On the other hand, he has abstracted urban landscapes with a neutral color palette that recreates everyday situations. However, the special characteristic that maintains the cohesion of all his pieces is the conviction of approaching art through a return to his childhood and his first traces. Paint like a child, paint with more expression than technique, paint with feeling over technique. The painter seeks the skillful strokes of his inner child to carry out each of his pieces.
