Conditional Gifts Painting

This is a painting of a view from Glacier National Park, which I visited a few years back. Glacier remains one of the most stunning places I've ever been. The title comes from a Wendell Berry quote. I thought of his work for two reasons. First, I've always appreciated and resonated with his effortless intertwining of appreciation of the natural world with spirituality. Second, as we increasingly push for policies that will certainly negatively harm the true gifts of our world, it's hard not to be concerned we are about to lose them. Speaking of spirituality, I tend to pick music to listen to while I paint, based on the feeling I want to convey. I listened to Bach's organ music while I completed "Conditional Gifts". In that vein, I hope that someone will feel a sense of reverence, awe, and humility. Practical stuff: This is a mix of low, medium, and high viscosity paints (depending now hat was being painted. Many of the flowers, aspects of the mountains, and the clouds, are slightly raised and textured with high visc. I'm happy to add a hanging wire if that is the buyer's preferred method of hanging. Otherwise, one could hang this with two nails (or hooks) evenly spread, as the canvas is relatively lite.
