ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This original abstract geometric wood collage artwork is made by painting fine layers of ink, dye and acrylic paint onto birch plywood panels to create vivid gradations of colour. These are then cut into strips and reassembled to create this striped grid combination. Rich combinations of colours and tones are used which when juxtaposed to each other and combined with to create a changing interaction of colours. This piece is mounted on a painted white mounting backboard. Comes ready to hang in a white box frame. 50 x 50cm unframed Artworks come signed both on the reverse. Artworks come signed both on the reverse of the artwork itself inside the frame and also on the backing board on the reverse of the box frame.

Abstract artist, Amelia Coward is renowned for her explorations into mixing, blending and grading colours, with a growing international profile. Born in 1975, she holds a 1st class Honours from Central St Martins and MA from the Royal College of Art. Her artworks can be found in both private and corporate collections worldwide. Amelia creates artworks that focus on the interaction of colours combined with the carefully composed spacial balance between geometric elements such as circles and stripes. Influenced by her woven textile training she uses laser cutters much the same way as she was trained to use a loom, cutting geometric shapes then reassembling them in patchwork compositions. Located in a traditional Oast Barn in the Kent countryside, Amelia combines her prolific making of new pieces with her commercial giftware business, Bombus. Each influences the other. Amelia has a team of creative makers in her studio to help to assemble, photograph, frame and pack all the works.
