ABOUT THE ARTWORK

"Currents", like many of my paintings, is also a metaphor about life. Emotions, feelings, sensations, our reactions to what happens; these are the currents that run through our lives like a stream of water, the sea; or as a gust of wind, sudden and violent. We try to resist but the emotional wave that assails us is often stronger and draws images that are carved into us, and will never fade away. And I believe that emotions, that is our living, our being inside the currents, whether they are beautiful or not, are also expressions of our desire to be alive. An ancient Sicilian proverb says that "all the water goes to the sea". We are just twigs that are carried by the current in search of our sea. Original Abstract Oil Artwork on Canvas 326 gr/mq, fine grain, cotton/polyester. Format 55×33 cm. Extrafine colors Winton W&N, Schmincke Mussini, M. Harding. Signed on the front and on the back by the author. With certificate of authenticity and with personal identification hologram of the artwork.

I was born in Sicily. The south and the Mediterranean are the roots of my soul and my feelings. I come from classical studies. I could have been a doctor if I had not met the Theater. And in the theater my infinite journey into Art begins. I am an actor and a director, a playwright and a writer. And I love using the verb to be, because I have never done in my life what I am not. I love playing with lights, a game that I have fed by landing on photography until being an honorable mention at the IPA in Los Angeles in 2017. And in the game of lights, I found painting, a language that allows me countless escapes, each of which brings me back to myself. "I am what I don't know." So says a character in one of my stories. And it's a phrase that comes from the most intimate part of myself, because my whole life, up to this point, has been a continuous search, a continuous pushing beyond my own limits. Art has certainly been the means, and I'm not referring to the technique of expression; on the contrary, it has always been secondary to exploring the deepest folds of my soul. Painting is for me like a catharsis that comes to life in the shapes and colors spread on the canvas; of shadow and light. Shadows that I try to illuminate and lights that I would like to fade. It's the need for a space of quiet; but it continually escapes. And I realize that my painting could be summed up in a single phrase: what I don't know. - Wonder Korner, Palazzo D’Amico, Milazzo 2024 - Session 6, Galeria Azur Berlin, Berlin 2024 - Il Sogno di Demetra, Galleria San Babila, Milan, 2024 - Viaggio verso l’introspezione, MO.C.A.
