About The Artwork
This is a round canvas with acrylic and wax crayon. I have an affinity for crepe myrtles, and all my crepe myrtle petal drawings years ago always sold out. Their petals are so like abstract dancers. I felt like I really got into details when I made "Chamomile" and that I would like to scale that back a little bit. I focused more on the forms and curves of the dark purple leaves of "Ebony Embers" crepe myrtles and their coral petals. I also restricted my palette a bit more and went fairy analogous with my color choices. I like the harmony this brought into the piece. I hope this makes you feel peaceful and relaxed. It was my most popular piece at my most recent showing.

I attended the University of Houston school of Fine Arts for a bachelor's in Studio Art - Painting, and graduated from that in 20012. I soon earned my teaching certificate, got my first job as a teacher in Pasadena, TX, then discovered I was expecting son #1. After a long hiatus in which I honed my teaching skills and adapted to motherhood (and popped out a second boy as well), I have been trying to get back in touch with the joy painting once brought me. I am finally happy as I work instead of stressing about keeping up with the imaginary Jones's in my mind.
