When I graduated from the Royal College of Art I was painting large abstract paintings. However I was always fascinated in the potential of paint to create illusions, particularly the illusion of space and depth, so I started painting figuratively again. But coming from a background of abstraction, the paintings had to also be a balancing act between form and colour. Besides my own work I have also worked as a paintings conservator and taught art in adult classes as well as summer schools. Commissions have included two large oils for Nottingham Council for their new Council Chamber. In 2006 I was artist in residence at Garsington Opera. My work is in the collections of Lindblad Travel, Paris Blues, Nottingham Council and Hammersmith Hospital. Bridgeman Images holds forty one images of my work.
