There is something about the sculpture of 'Cupid and Psyche' at the Louvre - Psyche, in all her translucent marble glory, awaiting Cupid's arrival, only makes you want to reach out to her. This work attempts to capture the elevation and a moment of levitated joy of Cupid and Psyche

I am Abhinaya Ramadurai, hailing from India. My resorting to painting in an attempt to express my state of mind (which I could otherwise not articulate into any identifiable emotion) made me realise that painting gives me a sense of fulfilment like none other. In order to fully focus my energies to painting, I took to art full-time and quit my profession as a tax consultant. Hailing from India, I witness a wide and inspiring spectrum of images and scenes in my life – of humans working their way through lives amidst the rush and the clutter of the urban space, of cultivation and birds and poultry, of humble homes and palatial living spaces, of dense tropical forests, of lush backwaters, of catamarans and fishing nets and bridges and dams. Such myriad scenes trigger a motivating urge in me to record such scenes in all their glory. I thus attempt to record these scenes in the art form that I connect with the most - Paintings. I feel there is always something hidden, something deeper brewing inside the many people we come across and the many scenes we perceive as ordinary; and that sense inspires me to capture the multiple unsaid and subtle emotions in my paintings. While I aspire to convey a hint of my ideas through my paintings, I equally wish to keep the path open for newer perspectives and interpretations, which I believe, are essential to the development of any art form.
