ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This sculptural painting, a part of my Currency Exchange series, features a profile portrait on a wooden tondo, highlighted by intense fluorescent pink hues, and framed by the Romanian phrase "Strain în lume, strain printre straini," which translates into English as "A stranger in the world, a stranger among strangers." Conceptually, this artwork is a manifestation of my own journey, delving into the theme of foreignness and the profound sense of displacement. Moreover, it resonates with the experiences of fellow migrants who have navigated the challenges of migration. My artworks are meticulously crafted to serve both individually and in various compositions, allowing for customizable installations to suit any space. If you're interested in purchasing multiple pieces, feel free to reach out to me for a tailored offer, reduced shipping costs, and to explore additional stock options. I warmly welcome custom commissions. As an artist of Moldovan origin, I passionately explore themes of foreignness and delve into the intricate realm of art's value through this series. While traditional coins hold fixed values and typically depict national figures, my coins feature anonymous faces and offer variable, often subjective, selling values. These coins can be displayed individually or as part of larger panels, offering endless possibilities for installation. Additionally, I offer commissioned panels tailored to my clients' preferences. Don't hesitate to contact me; I'd be delighted to provide further details. As a unique feature, I offer collectors the opportunity to exchange the equivalent value of the percentage that would have been owed to me from the sale of these coins for future works of my own creation. Thus, beyond acquiring a stunning piece of art, they gain the chance to visit my studio and consider acquiring another artwork using this as a form of payment.

Chisinau, 1982. Moldovan artist based in Spain. My approach is figurative and revolves around mainly human themes: metanarratives, death, value, subjectivity, family, among others. I like to approach them from a playful plastic game of repetitions, juxtapositions of colors, deformations in favor of psychological realism, and arbitrary use of elements and resources that I have in my studio. One of the constants in my work is the creation of panels, which, through the repetitive use of representations make a narrative. The visual element of repetition, particularly in the form of portraits, is a graphic obsession for me that captures a world where seriality is a defining feature. These pieces address themes such as death, tempus fugit, obsolescence, using a vibrant color palette inspired by folk art, advertising and Kitsch. The final image is a colorful and humorous antithesis.
