Art Description

Painting: Gouache, Acrylic, Pencil, Paint, Wood on Paper, Wood, Other.

To achieve the finishes for Cut-Outs at OK Corral it involves a very intensive manual process.
I start by taking heavy rag paper and literally scrubbing the surface with Copper Penny I have applied acrylic over the top surface. I enjoy Western films but never made one. I have put in some anti gun messages to protest against the horrible gun violence we see in America today. This is why I wanted the piece to have a sense of Americana about it..Also I have tried to give it an aged appearance. This is achieved but coating with Copper Penny and continually sanding and scrubbing down onto the surface then reapplying coat after coat of acrylic. The same process has been applied to the frame which is hand and jigsawed cut to give it that period feel. The frame also reflects America with big showtime stars and has the colors of red white and blue and is varnished in semi gloss to soft the layers.
