About The Artwork

I created this painting, Dance of The Ice Flowers, inspired by my upbringing in Denmark, where my childhood’s winters could be bitterly cold. As the daughter of a GP in the wilds of Jutland I had to go to school in the nearest big city miles away and thus started out in the early winter mornings on an ancient bus, no heating inside either!, so one could see one’s breath clearly, but the most beautiful ice flowers would form on the windows, even at times inside .... a great inspiration in later life if not exactly at the time when I was permanently sporting a Rudolph-red nose! The great thing was it made me dream, and inspired me to many a painting much later in my life. I saw in my mind’s eye a virtual ballet of ice nymphs floating by, playfully, silently, up, up, and into space. Thus my Dance of the Ice Flowers came to life. I wish you will enjoy looking at this heartfelt work!

I was born, I joke!, with a paintbrush in my hand. Having lived a colourful life, I have been fortunate enough to be able to pursue my passion for painting for many years and hope sincerely I can do so till, as I put it, ‘I fall out of my little red Danish clogs’ - inshallah. And every day is a new adventure! I was born and grew up in Denmark surrounded by nature, deep forests, large fields, and the wild North Sea not far away, all undoubtedly contributing to my inspiration as a painter. Having a father who was a country doctor and a mother a psychologist, my upbringing was both liberal and caring. My inspiration. I travelled the globe - ever open to new impressions, life, beauty, passion. Besides, I am inspired by very diverse sources, from philosophers to painters/artists: from Plato, Leonardo da Vinci to Michelangelo, and onwards to the post-impressionists to expressionists, Van Gogh being a firm favourite and influence. Colourful images are forever swirling in my own mind - especially when it comes to my latest, and ongoing, series about MY Cosmos - which I am calling ‘My Playful Cosmos’ - might I be in space? The stars, the galaxies, the planets, in fact, all those ‘heavenly bodies’: my goddesses!, all the vibrant and beautiful shapes - like watching the ever-changing clouds float by - I see the angels... You may, too, if you take a little time out to look at my paintings. My female forms, by the way, are heavily inspired by my time as a model, and I would describe them as abstract’ish! My life philosophy. I pray for peace, freedom, love, - and hope. Now our world needs this more than ever.
