In this picture I painted two women who are attending a festival. The women's appearance is inspired by the way that young women often present themselves on social media, busy in their own world. Both pose in their own way and seem to be confident, allowing the interpretation and question of "are the girls in the painting familiar with each other?" I used symbolism to detail the painting, whether it be the clothing, as the woman on the left wears a mix of Oriental and European clothing adorned with gold jewelry, similar to that worn on an Indian Bride - Gold highlighting wealth. Yet, the woman on the right shows her individual style through her clothes, which are inspired by a Spanish designer. On the one hand, tradition meets modernity and I show how culturally different people celebrate each other, but on the other, I ask the question of whether the people are really a together in a unit or separate individuals?

Serena Singh embodies color and texture, and leaving no space on her canvas, as she paints for her audience, a medley of vibrant tones! Born in Basel, Switzerland, Serena connected with drawing at an early age as she was fascinated by the image of the human figures. In her latest works she explores the topic of „identity“ and „self-discovery“ and takes a critical look at the individualism of today’s society. The painted subjects often have one or more shadows. These stand for the aura and the different identities that a person assumes in society. The colors in Singh's vivid paintings are inspired by her swiss-indian upbringing. She mixes most colours with a base tone of white, providing the paintings with a "retro look". It also reinforces the aesthetics of a dream world in which the characters live and gives her paintings their distinctive look. The young artist enjoys collectors in almost all of Europe, the USA and the United Arab Emirates, also because her popularity at art auctions. Her works have already been exhibited in Switzerland, France and Dubai and next her paintings will be shown in London. Serena was a student at the School of Art Basel and holds a BA in Visual and Corporate Communication from the Academy of Fashion and Design in Munich, Germany.
