ABOUT THE ARTWORK

A serene-faced woman with closed eyes is adorned with numerous snakes in place of hair, evocative of the mythical Medusa. Translucent turquoise and teal hues dominate the composition with contrasting goldish lines suggesting cracks or energy streams. The title speaks poetically and suggestively of the layers of symbolism in this evocative image. Initially the artist created this 18” rotondo as a preparation for a 36”-48” painting, which may still come into being.
