In this period of time it's important to be vulnerable.
During the making of this painting i uncovered my soul with great passion.
The woman in this painting comes from a dark period (black on the left) and moves towards the light (white on the right)
The vulnerability she shows there is 'a present' from darker times.
The partial mask (from black satin) shows that she does not dare to reveal herself completely.
Still being vulnerable in better times makes here strong and complete!
I chose satin as underground because it looks glamorous. In combination with ink and different textiles it also shows a rough side.

Merging into the movements, emotions, poses and expressions of the model is for me a meditative experience; without judging, just observing. I convey this 'being' in different techniques; onto the canvas, satin or rice paper. The brush, the model and i melt together as one intuitive unit. Paintings with acrylic; The acrylic works are made with different techniques; wet in wet, dry on dry, palette knife, different brushes, sponges, and with my bare hands where speed and rest alternate. Use of colour, thicknesses of paint, the way of painting. In short; how i paint is determined intuitively. In the end it must have been already stored in my memory for a long time.Through inspirations from fashion, nature, interior, materials, shapes and my sometimes lifelike dreams. Sumi-e paintings; The works on satin and rice paper (wenzhou paper) are painted with Indian ink and watercolour paint with a special brush. This technique comes from Japan, als called sumi-e. This way of painting gives a huge freedom in which the degree of pressure of the brush is alternated from soft to more pressure. Following the figure loosely, then building up speed and leaving voids are just as important as the use of colour, the degree of abstraction and resemblance. Lines, spots, smears and splashes makes the composition compleet. Experiencing sumi-e painting feels like dancing on paper, full of joy, energie, pride and love. One of the most beautiful things for me to see is when a painting touches people emotionally. When they can't stop looking at it. This is a very satisfying feeling which inspires me to continue passionately.
