During the creative process I have explored the hygroscopic characteristics of salt and rice used with acrylic inks. The result was muddy layers resembling my own dark lake. I then added dotted lines resembling a map. We create our own mythologies through our experiences and distorted memories. This work deals with the all consuming power of guilt and shame. A true story of deceit and shame: The 311th day, a year before Leonard Cohen died, was to be most regrettable. Bewitched at the place whose name means “magic charm”, next to the cursed black waters. No explanations are offered behind the events of that fateful night. Everything just falls back into the black, stinking memories soup.Through a hazy tequila dream the veil was pulled back and revealed who we were without the sobriety steering wheel. A never to be repeated one and only show. Living as if we never faltered or stumbled over our own emotions brought a return to religious thoughts and an attempt at a sober life. Every day we wake up trying to forget all the tragedies. The damage is done, like the after effects from a bomb. I thought I was strong enough, but I was wrong! “I, I wish I could live without the Scheiβe, yeah!”
