De Pictura nº6 Painting

The series is a tribute to the famous De Pictura (1435), a treatise or commentary written by the Italian humanist and artist Leon Battista Alberti, who also wrote De re Aedificatoria on architecture and De Statua on sculpture. In this series, in reducing painting to its purest and most abstract elements, inkblots and graphics, I was surprised by the comment of a friend, Milton Cabral Viana, who claimed to see the true painting there. A few days later he gave me the Alberti treatise and inevitably baptized the series of paintings I was producing, which therefore has only a poetic relationship with Renaissance painting, because, aesthetically, it is the daughter of abstractionism and expressionism.
