I absolutely love raku-fired pottery. Since I don’t own a kiln, nor am I a pottery artist, trying to capture the essence of them in a painting was my goal. Each of the three paintings are on 18” x 24" x 1.5" museum quality gallery wrapped canvas. I used black and deep emerald green colored acrylic paint only, mixing them to achieve an elegant color and feeling. The texture is created with acrylic mediums. Raku means "enjoyment", "comfort" or "ease" in Japanese. I added frames in some of the images to give an idea of how they could look if framed (they are sold unframed).
