Walter Benjamin, in his aesthetic and theoretical work, assigns particular importance to the concept of the fragment. Fragments represent disjointed elements of reality or thought that are not fully articulated or complete. For Benjamin, fragments can reveal a deeper, inner meaning that may not be immediately apparent through complete systems of thought. One of the main expressions of Benjamin's meditation on fragments appears in his work "The Arcades Project" (Passagenwerk). Here, fragments are parts of historical experience that collect memories and allow scholars to reconstruct the past with a critical eye. The fragmented form of the work reflects the idea that the past is never presented as a whole but is perceived only through fragments. Moreover, in his essay "The Task of the Translator," Benjamin views translation as an act that leaves gaps and discontinuities, and these fragments are where the true meaning of the text can emerge. For Benjamin, fragments are not simply deficiencies or imperfections; they are precisely the areas where hidden or unexpected truths may arise, particularly in history and art.

She also questions whether they truly conflict with reasoning and logic, believing that they are equally important to explore. Maria draws inspiration from artists like Paul Klee, Mark Rothko, Sonia Delaunay-Terk, and Agnes Martin. She also has a deep love for poetry, theater, music, other forms of art, and philosophy.
