My name is Melody. I am from Austin, Texas. I have been creating art since I was a small child. I made it my priority during my school years and have constantly evolved with my artistic expression.
As someone who also loves the study of Yoga, Meditation and Spirituality; I like to draw inspiration from the unseen. Further more, I am always inspired by beauty, the feminine, women and the unique or odd.
My collections have been interpretations of our surroundings through abstract compositions. Completed on canvas, board or paper and painted with acrylics, inks, spray paints and other mixed medias. I play with bold and muted colors as I interpret the world and space around me. I enjoy using color and texture to evoke a feeling or emotional response when viewed. I like soft colors that dance with bold colors, interesting patterns, and textures that give the eyes pleasure and rest from the everyday chaos of screens and noise.
I'm constantly inspired by what is typically unseen by the conscious eye. Such as hidden emotions, space, air, radio waves, cosmic occurrences, brain waves, microscopic organisms and how those might be told as a visual story.
I like the idea that a painting can bring back a sense or feeling you had when you experienced something you couldn't see. The energy of a stranger that passes by, eye contact with someone from across the room, the wind that reminds you of a someone, the moment you think of someone and they call you. What would these experiences look like if they were painted?
