Art project ""Mental Machine"" - is a hanging construction of two closed 5 parts-polyptych floor plans, hanging inside each other, symbolizing the inner space and outer shell of the personality of a modern man. In this work Nadiya Pankova reflects on the psychological mechanisms of survival in contemporary society. The inner poliptych is called "Depression". Ouroboros (snake swallowing its tail) of fear and shame". The artwork deals with the human mind, which, like a bioprocessor, tries to control the interaction of our deepest primal instincts, such as fear, with acquired and socially imposed patterns, such as shame. Without a competent approach to our psychological health, this process very often leads to a "blue screen" that manifests itself in burnout, depression, or worse. "I am ashamed because I am scared, but I am scared because I'm ashamed" - in Nadiya's view, the central self-destructive concept of modern man. The outer shell is the "passive-aggressive face." According to the author, passive aggression is the airtight shell of the ship that keeps everything inside burning, the mechanism that prevents empathy that humanity has developed over the centuries. Passive aggression, which originated as a protection against overt psychological aggression, now plays a dominant role in shaping an individual's behavioral patterns. Look into the eyes of these five "masks", Cowardice, Confuse, Spite, Apathy, Revulsion. Look inside and see what is hidden underneath, feel the pulsation of psychological processes. This exhibition is only for you. It takes place only between you and the machine. Ask yourself: How well am I protected? How thick is my "armor"? Do I need to be so strong covered?

Ukrainian artist based in Bayern, Germany. Nadiya Pankova was born in Donetsk (Ukraine) in 1985. There she got Music and Art education; there Nadiya got her Degree in Architecture and worked as an architect for some years. However, in time, Nadiya has realized that the architecture is actually not her field. In 2014, Nadiya with her family moved to Kiev because of the war beginning in the Donbass region. Nadiya has lived in the capital for three years. There she started body painting, performed at the theater and renovated her acrylic painting. There she also became a professional in make-up. Since 2018, Nadiya Pankova has been living with her husband and two children in Erlangen (Germany). Nadiya teaches art, painting, composition the children and young people of age 3 till 65. So, now she is living and working as a painter, dancer, actress, make-up & body-art artist and children's art teacher, but her favorite art forms stay acrylic abstract painting and body-art. Artist statement Polychrome. Poly (polu-) - many, everything. Chrome (khrōma-) - tone, colour. CONTRAST of COLOUR and SATURATION is the horse that carries me galloping through the whirlwinds of my emotions. Contrast is a prism through which I try to discern my perception of the world and the way the world treats me. I'm constantly driven by the desire to get to the root of certain experiences, whether they are my own or those of the environment in which I live. Wild dances of vibrant colours and freeform shapes are my way of putting together my worldview, my manner of thinking and discerning, exploring and containing feelings. The texture of my paintings appeals to the viewer's sensorics. It's like it's whispering - touch me… I achieve a synergy of polychrome explosions and textured shadow dances by using acrylic paints. They are as loud and impetuous in their fast-drying technique as my rollercoaster-like mindset. Bold palette knife strokes, multi-coloured bright remnants of old dried paint, scraps of thread, styrofoam pieces are implanted in my works as blobs of emotional reactions in the seamless storyline of my life. Method Nadiya uses acrylic paints usually, but sometimes she add different upcycling materials to get more interesting surface effects. Nadiya prefers several styles in painting. Sometimes it is a long sometimes-architectural working process under composition and color solutions; sometimes it’s more expressive subconscious painting.
