Born in Poland in 1984, Bartosz Beda is an internationally exhibiting artist whose work investigates the shifting boundaries of figurative representation and the archaeology of the painted surface. Currently based in Dallas, Texas, Beda’s practice spans over two decades of rigorous technical and conceptual exploration. After graduating with an MA in Fine Art from the Manchester School of Art in 2011, Beda was named by the BBC as a "one to watch" and selected for the Catlin Art Guide as one of the most promising artists in the UK. His early career was marked by high-level institutional recognition, including being short-listed for the Saatchi New Sensations exhibition in London and winning the esteemed Towry Award for the Best of North of England. Beda’s international presence is supported by several prestigious fellowships and scholarships, including a six-month residency at the Academy of Fine Arts in Dresden, Germany, and a 2016 fellowship at the Fondazione Per L’Arte in Rome, Italy. In 2018, he completed a residency at GoggleWorks Center for the Arts (Pennsylvania), and most recently, in 2025, he was awarded the Edwards Trust Art Residency, culminating in a significant solo exhibition at Angelo State University. With a career spanning solo exhibitions in Spain, Colombia, England, and the United States, Beda’s work is held in numerous private and public collections globally. Beyond the easel, he is the founder of Execute Magazine, a platform for contemporary art dialogue, and the Art Be You Academy, where he provides academic instruction to the next generation of practitioners. His current work explores the "moment of collapse", where the recognizable image dissolves into the raw, lived-in reality of oil, acrylic and ink.
