About The Artwork
The work was inspired by Ted Gioia, art historian, "The Imperfect Art", now translated into Italian. Ted is very big on jazz, and if you follow him on Twitter you might find out which of Django's compositions he likes best. Wikipedia has a lot of information about Django. I was an illustrator for jazz.com for two years, and Django was one of my favorite pieces. When I start a piece, I really do not know where it will lead me in terms of color, composition, value, or interest. The shadows in this piece just started to appear and I developed them and called it stage lighting.
