This view of a car on a wet rainy street from behind was inspired of the work of Cy Twombly. His dollops and dabs of drippy, colorful pigments on the surface of his canvas were often left to their own devices as they worked their way down the canvas. It was with his methodology in mind that I worked on this street scene. This piece, like most of my smaller works, is painted with acrylic paint on board. I have painted with acrylic paints for many years as they do not give off fumes and are generally a healthier medium to work with that doesn't impart the same long term health effects that some other mediums may present. This painting is not framed nor does it require framing as the edges are finished in a neutral grey then varnished with hanging wires mounted on the back and comes ready to hang right out of the shipping packaging

I am a visual artist who resides and works in Vancouver, Canada. I have exhibited my work both locally and abroad and have a lengthy exhibition history. My patrons include both corporate and private collectors. When I work, I combine bright colors with a loose representation which allows some elements of the paintings to skirt the edge of abstraction while a modicum of representation draws the viewer in to a referenced subject. Acrylic paint on either canvas or board is my primary medium but paintings often include other elements including oil and spray paint, pastel, graphite and a host of other materials at hand. These various mediums are applied with different styles of brushes, scrapers, stencils and rags; whatever utensil is at hand. I like to think the painted image stands above our hyper-accelerated culture and provides an opportunity for individuals to stop and consider, if only for a moment, what someone else is thinking about. In my experience the viewing of a painting, within the absence of the artist and presence of their idea, can be transformational. And it’s that opportunity, or potential, to create a painting that resonates with an individual in some unanticipated way that is ever so enticing to me.
