About The Artwork

Looking upon Lough Corrib towards Doon from the vantage point of the Dooras Peninsula, a place of captivating wild beauty, 'a savage beauty' as Seamus Heaney and Oscar Wilde described it. Where the world opens onto a tapestry of lakes, mountains and Connemara’s ever-changing sky. Dramatic and alluring, the mountains and lake draw you into their fold - welcome to the stunning beauty of Connemara. High quality 'Golden' acrylic paint on reclaimed wood. Slight chip on upper left hand corner barely visible, in nature of the material and does not take away from the beauty of the finished painting, please see studio photo. Varnished satin-matte. UV and dust resistant. Can be wiped cleaned with a damp cloth. Framed black wood edge. Ready to hang. Signed on front and back. Measuring 36x42cm/14x16inch.

Irish based in Berlin artist dividing my time between art studios in Galway and Berlin. Having completed a degree in History of Art at Trinity College Dublin in 1999, I worked and traveled around the world before moving to Germany to focus on my art professionally. Growing up in the West of Ireland influenced my exploration of the deeper memory world of archetypes and how they resonate in the landscape around me. As a practice, painting becomes routine, and my memory predicts what it will be like to do things I have never done before. Spaces of (and for) imagination are central to my work and rather than specific topography or 'views' are a deeper reflection on nature and the ways it can develop my experience of the present, by means of an archetypal memory that is a thread I try to tease out in my paintings. I have taken part in group and solo exhibitions and my work has been acquired for private collections worldwide. I like to think that my artwork is optimistic and positive, creating a space for curiosity and reflection. Some pose questions in the abstract, while others simply a reason to stop; look; take a breath and remember. As a self-employed professional artist I want to give you the very best value, quality and service that I can. All my original paintings are made on quality material, painted by hand and inspected carefully. Three of my artworks hang in the HSE Corporate Finance Center, Irish Government Building, Dublin, Ireland. My painting, Matterhorn, features on the cover of Mountains and the German Mind Translations from Gessner to Messner, 1541-2009 Edited by Sean Ireton (University of Missouri) and Caroline Schaumann (Emory University) Visits to my studio are welcome. Please email or call for an appointment. Irish Studio: Cluinbruin, Cornamona, Co. Galway, Ireland. Berlin Studio: Krischanweg 42b, 12359 Berlin, Germany. Visit my homepage for directions.
