ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This work was inspired by 'Arabe Fantasia', Fortuny, that I saw at the Prado in 2018, with parts of landscapes that I had seen while visiting Iguazu falls, Argentina. I was interested in combining an urban, architectural environment, with nature; thereby creating a habitat where the two could coexist harmoniously. With vibrant splashes and dynamic swirls, I sought to capture a sense of movement that takes the eye up towards the golden light filtering down from the ceiling.

Simon Boyd
Argentina
Simon Boyd, born in London 1978, studied Fine Art at Middlesex, 1997-2001. He has lived in Argentina since 2007. Simon has held solo shows in both Argentina and the UK; ‘The Jousters Banquet’ at the British Arts Centre, Buenos Aires, in 2009 and ‘Also Light…’ at Anteros Arts Foundation, Norwich, 2023 to name a few. He has also participated in the International Contemporary Art Biennial, Buenos Aires, in 2016. A key inspiration for the colour and depth of his work is the South American landscape of La Pampa. Simon's use of palette echoes the sense of vitality and purity the landscape there evokes.
