My work explores time through objective, semi-representational or totally abstract means, employing brush, fingers and palette knife to create marks. This work is informed by all of these approaches and methods and hopes to find equilibrium between them. I generally find ornate, vintage frames at auctions or antiques shops. These frames carry the marks, chips and cracks of a previous existence - a patina of time that interests me and supports my exploration of the moment, of place and the nature of entropy. The frame is an important, essential and intrinsic part of the piece. This often reults in total inclusion. Painting on the frames is generally something I include in my process, sometimes minimally and at other times totally.
