Walking is often my favoured means of exploring the geographies of the city. I pay attention to mood and ambience of a place seeking a critical understanding of urban experience and life. For me urban spaces trigger emotions and feelings that may lie dormant in people.

Born in Germany, Markus lives and works in Bray Co.Wicklow. He recently graduated from the National College of Art and Design,in Dublin, with a Diploma in Fine Art and Design (H1). The subject of his current work is the investigation into space, colour and form. This project is partially a research about the built environment we live in, the places and the structures within the surroundings of these habitats are the core of his interest. The basic idea of his project is to bridge the gap between the physical space and his personal emotional respond to it. Markus see's his own work as a recollection of memories and emotion that he experiences while wandering through these habitats. The medium he primarily use is paint; occasionally his work is composed from found objects, paper, digital collage and photography. He deliberately uses a reductive visual vocabulary to emphasize the importance of space, rhythm, structure and their relations to each other.
