Svetlana Grecova

About the Artist

Svetlana Grecova

Germany

G LANA (Svetlana Grecova) is a Moldovan-born, Berlin-based contemporary painter whose artistic journey has been shaped by three very different cultural environments: Moldova, Taiwan, and Germany.

Her paintings explore the emotional transformation of reality through color, movement, light, and imagination. Nature, the human figure, flowers, landscapes, and cosmic imagery become starting points for exploring inner states rather than subjects to be simply reproduced.

Grecova’s work moves between figuration and abstraction, observation and imagination. A landscape can become an emotional space; a flower can suggest renewal; a female figure can embody freedom, love, vulnerability, or transformation. Across these different motifs, her paintings are connected by a distinctive sensitivity to color and a sense of movement that gives the compositions an almost living quality.

A recurring idea in her work is blooming as a metaphor for life — the possibility of renewal, emotional awakening, and transformation. This connects her botanical paintings with her figurative and more symbolic works, including her explorations of the cosmos and the inner universe.

Her artistic language has developed through many years of international practice. After growing up and studying art in Moldova, Grecova spent almost fifteen years in Taiwan, where she exhibited extensively and participated in international art events, including Art Revolution Taipei. She is now based in Berlin, where she continues to develop her practice and explore new directions in painting.

Working under the artist name G LANA, Svetlana Grecova sees painting as a way of creating a personal universe — a space where reality and imagination meet, and where color becomes a language for emotions that cannot always be expressed in words.

Her work is an invitation to enter that universe and experience it rather than simply observe it.
