I am a Chilean artist based in Santiago, who grew up in the U.S. As a teenager living in Washington D.C., I spent my summers going to museums and drawing in situ. That is where my love affair with art began. I moved back to Chile in 1987 and went to art school there. I have been producing and exhibiting for over two decades. I am a painter that loves experimenting with new media, and painting large formats, including murals. I am fascinated by abstraction, repeating certain forms in obsessive ways, and working in a meditative manner. Josef Alber´s color theory is always present in my mind, but I also love drawing as an independent and powerful art form. I am intrigued by botanical forms and their coincidences with structures of our own bodies. Organic shapes such as seaweed, branches, stones, microorganisms and systems of blood vessels have all been part of my work. Most recently, I haver been researching about Climate Change and mutating landscape. So I have started working with images of melting glaciers and permafrost, and have incorporated geometrical structures and fragmented forms. My work is in private collections in Chile, U.S., Italy, France, and the U.K. Artist Residencies: July 2022: Millay Colony, Austerlitz, NY. January 2022: Territorio Artist Residency, Galería Sextante, Guachaca, Colombia. 2018: Vermont Studio Center, Johnson, VT. 2015: Slade School of Arts, London, UK. 2013: Scuola Internazionale di Grafica, Venice, Italy. 2011: School of Visual Arts, NY, NY.
