Ego Rising is a metaphor for all of us using peace lilies (emotions) at the center of a strong background (social environment). It stems from observing & experiencing the way we live today. Everything seemingly revolves around presenting the self in the best possible way - whether true or false. Billions are spent on luxuries like cosmetics, clothes, cars, houses, technology, etc. The need for attention & to be talked about, always wanting a personal spotlight makes for a pure, simple, naturally elegant flower to transform itself into the most beautiful, selfish and ultimately destructive mess - even before the goal of being a status statement at one's own cost can be achieved. We feed our self-worth through extrinsic means rather than intrinsic values, thereby becoming slaves to our own egos. The colours & technique used are very bold & strong to create & express a visually powerful statement piece.
