This small painting is inspired by a recent trip I made in Lanzarote, Spain. Landscapes are a mix of desert, volcanoes, and sea. The ground has different colors, from black to yellow and red. El Golfo is a place right in the middle hose three elements, having a very special atmosphere. To me, abstr...

Abstract painting is like a music with no lyrics : it's just a an emotion. Nothing to explain, even if, sometimes, you can imagine there is a story hidden behind the shapes and colours, something mysterious, something about poetry, dreams. Abstract painting is a freedom. It is the freedom of imagination, the freedom of choosing and using the colours I want, depending on my mood and not on a subject. Abstract painting is also a freedom for the spectator : what you see on the painting is what you want to see. It took time for me to become a painter. My life followed different ways, before I painted my very first work, thinking "it's an artwork" ! I was born in Paris, France, and I lived there for years. I live in Brittany for about 18 years, in a small village hidden in Broceliande forest, country of ancient Celtic legends. Even if my mother was a painter, I never thought I could become one myself. I had many professional lives, non-artistic for some of them. I've been a photographer (and I'm still), I've worked for french TV, I sold books, then I sold furniture. I started painting "by chance" and without knowing what to do exactly 17 years ago, just after moving to Brittany. It took time, but I discovered I could create my own visual world as much as when photographing. Twelve years ago, I decided to dedicate myself to my art, both as a painter and a photographer. Those two medium have different languages. There's a link between them and in the way I explore them : I do my best to move away from reality and create pictures where every viewer could build his own story. My inspiration comes from my inner world as well as from books I read or films I've seen. The landscapes and the characters I paint or photograph are unreal, even if they were born somewhere in real life.
