El Matasiete Painting

El Matasiete belongs to a series of paintings called Artifice, this series begins as a search that feeds on traces, clues, parts of a whole that is built in pieces, almost like an archaeological discovery. I like to think of the process as a look into the emptiness of the night, where the first thing is darkness and that occupies everything, but little by little it sharpens our sensitivity and we begin to perceive differently, to perceive the other, the veiled , what was kept hidden in broad daylight, in this act not only does the sight get used to it and try to capture the essentials, but also the imagination manifests itself as a way of completing a materiality, a game of encounters and oppositions between the real and the metaphysical which is presented as an illusion and at the same time as a truth.
