From 1999 with her first exhibition in Bologna until today, she has lived and worked in Bologna and Madrid, and she currently lives in Barcelona. She is a drawing teacher at the “Universitat de Belles Arts de Barcelona” where she also collaborates as invited professor for MBA courses.
Since 1999 with the Güell Foundation Award she has obtained various distinctions and awards. Her pictorical work has gone through several stages, developed largely with mixed techniques on cardboard, paper, wood,... In 2003 she started a childhood self portrait series for the Sala Parés Gallery in Barcelona, and her themes, landscapes and figures have, from that moment on, been related to memory. In 2007 for her exhibition at Ignacio de Lassaletta Gallery in Barcelona, she started working with the concept of veils related to memory using layers of light marble dust, fabric collage, photography, coal graph- ite...
As well, part of Marta Lafuente’s production is set in the context of Art Foundations, a sphere in which she has permanent works installed in Banc de Sabadell , Vila Casas and Güell Foundations. Her work has been exhibited in galleries in Spain and the United States. Beside h er pictorical oeuvre she is often collaborating in illustrated albums, having published her books at Lumen Random House Mondadori, and shown her work at both the Frankfurt and Bolonia Book ferias. She regularly shows her art work at the Ignacio de Lassaletta Gallery, Anquins Gallery and Esther Montoriol Gallery, in Barcelona.
