Electrifying pain Painting

As a child I endured and suffered through abuse and sexual assault which encompassed 15 years of my life. Leaving highschool I married my highschool sweetheart whom I married shortly after. However, as a child I grew to mask my pain and unhappiness. I had no strength to ask for help or add more stress in my life. I grew up silent and learned to endure pain. I fell inlove with a man who mirrored my father because of my insecurities. I grew to learn to be silent and endure rather than speak and embrace. I grew to accept and hate all at the same time. Sometimes the pain was too much for words. So for three years, I grabbed a brush and painted a line for each punch, for each rape, for each scream, for each tear I cried.... Stroke, slash, bash... On the fight began. I fought through all the pain and sorrow and confusion just to stand and stare in silence. I never revealed my secret, I never asked for help. but here today I stand ready to share my story for my daughter. I am not ready to sell my work, or pain, but I will not stand in fear of my sorrow and pain in front of my daughter. I hope one day my daughter and you can stand before this art and see my pain masked in bright colors, defying my sadness. To see my piece- speak the words of thousands of victims whom are not ready to speak out. Throw my sorrow and pain, I have grown, and I am ready to speak out.
